How can I get reference or research help?
Answer
Reference and research assistance is available to the Maryland Carey Law community from the Thurgood Marshall Law Library professional staff. Please see the Law Library hours page for updates to our hours and access policy.
Research and Reference Support: There are several ways for law students and faculty to contact our Research Services Team to get help. Research librarians are available via chat, phone, email, in person.
- Online chat reference is available at law.umaryland.libguides.com/chat during chat hours.
- Email library-related questions to libref@law.umaryland.edu and receive a prompt response during reference hours.
- Students can ask for a referral to the library research staff, in person at the User Services Desk, or by phone at 410-706-6502, and our work-study students and circulation staff will refer you.
- For personalized research consultations, you may contact your librarian liaisons individually.
Research staff are available to respond to all library-related requests, including for in-depth research assistance and advice on strategies for researching seminar paper topics or other research problems.
Librarian liaisons are assigned to all current law school courses to give students a contact for all library-related questions that arise in the context of the course. Information about the librarian liaison and an e-mail address are automatically included on each Blackboard course page.
Students may also consult the list of library research guides, as well as FAQs, which are authored by research librarians and highlight the best resources, in both electronic and paper formats, for a particular legal topic.
